Pohutukawa tree with bright red flowers
The weather is getting warmer, the mud on the ground has disappeared, the grass has been growing lots, making animals and people are happy.
Foggy and rainy valley
September came and marked the beginning of spring. Two days prior however it was the coldest night of the year with frost on the car windscreen.
Cat sitting in front of empty bowl, looking up into the camera.
What can I say, the cats are special here. They are probably special everywhere, but I feel that we have an interesting mix of personalities. Especially Moonshine, he’s always good for entertainment.
Girl milking a goat into a glass bottle
We had flooding and cylones. The ducks have been the only very happy creatures but they turned their area into a slimy, muddy mess. Guess that sums up the last few months.
Wom standing in the water in the paddock

Momma duck with her little ducklings
Apart from the usual winter farm activities, there has not been much exciting stuff happening. It’s been a typical winter with lots of rain, lots of mud but rather warm in comparison. It looks like nature has decided that it is spring.
An orange sky with a few clouds at the horizon over a green valley with low level light across
It’s been a few rather wet days. Some with intermittent sunshine but not enough to dry up the ground yet. The cats use the sunny breaks to go outside but other than that they seem to be in hibernation.
Child cradling a baby goat in her lap
Our 2 little baby goats are called Muddy Valley Twi and Muddy Valley La. They love bouncing around in their paddock and up onto the things in their playground.
Close-up image of a flufft cat pow underside with toebeans
While Naughty was laying on his back with outstretched legs on the beanbag, I have taken the opportunity ta take a close-up picture of that fluff between his toes.
Closeup picture of white/blue/yellow moss growing on some grey basalt stone
Rain and mild temperatures have led winter to the land. The trees have dropped their leaves and the moss started to grow. Browns and greens and the dominating colours, the red and yellows have almost gone.
Another summer has gone by and autumn came, dry and cold.
Tatjana and Jolan busy moving branches
We made use of the long weekend – yes, it’s Auckland Anniversary weekend – and did some farm maintenance.
