A photomontage of 4 different wasp traps made from coke bottle hung up
We typically put a waap trap up around the house in summer to keep the number of wasps at bay. This year, they discovered a queen yellow legged hornet in the early stages of building a nest in Glenfield on the North Shore in October, while two males were spotted earlier in the year in Grafton and Albany. It is the first time a Queen has been found in Aotearoa.

Crisp winter mornings are fun to watch with the fog and the clouds moving, building up and disappearing again.

Duck in the doddock with 15 little duckling behind her in a big bunch
One afternoon, there was Wasabi waddling around the paddock and there was a bunch of fluffballs tumbling after her, 15 little duckling.
Four ducklings in a plastic box huddled in a corner
Today we got some more ducklings they are called Nemo, Hank, Dory and Marlin.
Praying Mantis eating a wasp
Found this Praying Mantis on our gumboot holder, eating a wasp and managed to get a nice close-up picture of her and her pray.
