Apart from the usual winter farm activities, there has not been much exciting stuff happening. It’s been a typical winter with lots of rain, lots of mud but rather warm in comparison. It looks like nature has decided that it is spring.
Lots and not so much happened. New ducklings, alpaca maintenance, Christmas, holidays and lots of animal fun.
The little ducklings have grown over the last couple of days and become so docile, or should I rather say they’ve sussed out where the food comes from….
Erwien came back this years with a new bunch of ducklings and proudly presented them, just like last year. She’s such a good mummy.
After being rather busy over the last week before Christmas with a film crew on site and the typical “everything needs to be finished by Christmas” work frantic, we are now all truly in holiday mode.All at Pukeatua Farmstay wishing you a lovely and relaxed time and a Happy New 2021. The first days of summer greeted with a mixed bag of weather. The first day was coldish and still wet with quite some wind. But that all eased down on the second day which turned into a nice, dry and hot summer day featuring blue sky and green grass.
Nothing much really has happened over the last few weeks and hence our updates have been rather sparse. One thing did happen however: Think it really turned spring.
A few mother ducks did disappear a few weeks ago and we thought that was suspicious. Today Monty revealed her secret and what a cute fluffy surprise that was.
What a joy and surprise that was when a few days ago Erwien showed up with a boyfriends and a whole bunch of fluffy ducklings.
It’s that time of the year again where the cats and dogs in the neighbourhood start bringing in little chicks and ducklings.While a few of last year’s rescue ducks have returned sporadically throughout the year, they now seem to be returning in larger numbers and bringing their boy friends along.
While we had no guests, have not been out to see any people and had no coffee other than the home made one due to COVID-19 lockdown level 4 and 3, we fixed a few things around the farm, moved animals around the paddocks and got more feed in.
One afternoon, there was Wasabi waddling around the paddock and there was a bunch of fluffballs tumbling after her, 15 little duckling.
