The month is almost over and has been rather eventful. From rain to sunshine to torrential rain again and alpaca shearing in between.

This year marks the first time that it was not us adults doing the wreath but our daughter herself with only very little guidance.
Within days, the hot summer weather had moved on and made space for moderate temperatures with rain and fog.

If not doing office work, we fix fences, move animals around, collect, cut and chop firewood, dig trenches, build goat houses ;-) and fix all sorts of things that break over time.

The first flood this winter has arrived. Usually, we have 2 or more of those events, but this year is the first time we have been having some fun in it. After all, why not?

Not that we lost winter in a hole, but the valley got so soggy over the years that we used the still good autumn weather to dig drainage in preparation for the wet winter time.
The storm that hit us last Tuesday evening with wind speeds of more than 200km/h (Manukau Heads) left us without power and internet and only limited cell phone coverage. Power was restored yesterday afternoon, 3 days later.
Ducks in a box
Our new ducks have been temporarily located on our front lawn as as with all temporary things, they last far too long. So after a few months and completely destroying our lawn, the ducks finally moved onto the paddock next to the chicken.

The winter storms and the wet weather was not too good for some of our already damaged pine tress along the middle paddock fence line. So we untied the fence wires and chopped the most damaged and dangerous trees down. All trees fell exactly between the fence posts and we simply tied the wires back
