Checkup with picnic – after all, why not?

On a regular basis you need to check up on your animals, fences and water systems. But what is better than combining that with a dog goat run and some picnic?

Alpaca maintenance day

Saturday was the day of the bi-annual alpaca maintenance

Muriwai beach walk

A walk on our local backyard beach, Muriwai Beach. Home to a gannet colony and lovely black sand with beautiful sunsets across the ocean.

Making quills out of duck feathers

We created quills out of some duck feathers. They have the big advantage that the quill is actually pretty long already. Still not long enough to actually handle them properly though. Shaved some of the vane off and it was much better.

Amazing fluffpaws

While Naughty was laying on his back with outstretched legs on the beanbag, I have taken the opportunity ta take a close-up picture of that fluff between his toes.
Finally some fine weather

Happy for the endless rain to be over

Mr. Shady is happy in the new grass strip. Just two weeks ago the alpacas have been in there and kept it nice and short so he does not get overexcited. After all that rain, the ground is getting better and the grass has been growing since. It must have been drowned in water before.
