I would hope that our horses think that the feeders are very nice people, because we got them an extra special Christmas present just in time for the Waimauku Pony Club Christmas celebrations. And so Shady already had his first ride in the new horse trailer. Although he was a bit sceptical at first, he seems to be enjoying the smoother rides. We certainly enjoy the easy clean interior and the extra gear space.
After the rainy weekend we got busy outside again. Saturday we weeded the paddock and sowed new grass plus added fertiliser. Sunday we got the concrete mixer out and got builders mix and cement from Waimauku Landscape supplies to pour concrete into the animal shelter.
Today was Waimauku School AG(ricultural) day. For those cityslickers who do not know what AG day is, it is a school day where all school children have the opportunity to showcase their hand-reared calf, lamb or chicken along with a variety of other categories for those unable to rear an animal.
Mr. Shady is happy in the new grass strip. Just two weeks ago the alpacas have been in there and kept it nice and short so he does not get overexcited. After all that rain, the ground is getting better and the grass has been growing since. It must have been drowned in water before.
Pukeatua Alpacas will be at the Waimauku Gala. Want to get close up with an alpaca? Ask questions?
