If you’ve ever wondered what happens when farm animals get bored, let me introduce you to Caramilk, the most entertaining cow on the farm.

We have been using the good weather over the last two days for maintenance and weed spraying outside. I could not initially find our cows. They were hiding in a corner behind the manuka trees.

There was nothing extraordinary to write about this winter, really. It’s not been too wet and not too dry, neither too cold or too warm. We had a few frosty nights and a few pretty rainy days but all in all it was reasonably warm…

The sun has been more prevalent and the odd shower has helped all plants to grow a lot. It’s nice to see so much fresh green in various shades

The weather is getting warmer, and the days are stretching out longer, giving us more daylight to enjoy. The rain is slowly becoming less frequent, making way for sunnier skies.

Half of January is over, and you be wondering what we have been up to.

Bring on the challenges, 2024. It won’t always be easy, there may be hard work, there may be tears, but we will grow stronger together.

The weather is getting warmer, the mud on the ground has disappeared, the grass has been growing lots, making animals and people are happy.

When our son did a placement on a nearby dairy farm during calving season, they forgot to book a calf for the bobby truck. That was the beginning of Caramel’s story.

Shady our little Bush Pegasus has peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge today. We are so glad he was able to go gracefully and peacefully with all of us and his best mate Rusty by his side.

On a regular basis you need to check up on your animals, fences and water systems. But what is better than combining that with a dog goat run and some picnic?

Apart from the usual winter farm activities, there has not been much exciting stuff happening. It’s been a typical winter with lots of rain, lots of mud but rather warm in comparison. It looks like nature has decided that it is spring.
