We had spots of rain every now and then, but nothing much really and according to reports, the drought has seen the lowest water levels in 25 years. Mind you, 25 years ago, Auckland had a) way less population and b) way fewer Aucklanders connected to the water system – most were on tank water just like us.
Our water tank has been full over the last couple of weeks; however, you could tell that the soil was dry. We only had very little grass grow over the months. And even paddocks that had seen no animals grazing for 9 months look pretty much like they did 9 months ago.
I just hope we won’t go from too dry to too wet. In any case, we cleaned up the horse shelter and the calf shelter, making them occupation-ready. Just in case.
