Finally rain!

I have always been joking and saying that summer starts on the the 25th of December. In all seriousness, in most years the weather has been pretty dull and grey up until Christmas. This year, the nice, hot weather started already mid November and by now, we had no rain for 5 weeks and all local water carriers are booked out until end of January.

This is the thing when you are not in a town or big city – you are on tank water. Water rains on the roof and goes through pipes into your tank, and this is what we humans, the garden and the animals have to live from.

The water was pretty low in the tank already by beginning of December, so we had 11 m3 water delivered and you continue o anxiously watch the water levels in the tank.

But yay, three days ago and today we finally had some rain and that filled the tank almost up again so we can enjoy the festive season finally without worrying. The land is wet again, the grass will hopefully be growing again and the cracks in the ground in the front lawn will be closing again.
