The winter storms and the wet weather was not too good for some of our already damaged pine tress along the middle paddock fence line. So we untied the fence wires and chopped the most damaged and dangerous trees down. All trees fell exactly between the fence posts and we simply tied the wires back. A little bit of work but not too bad. Tatjana can do miracles with the fences. Somewhat sad to see them go but in hindsight it was a really good decision. Two of them were so rotten, hardly any solid wood was left in them. Some were rather still solid at the base. This will give us some firewood for the next years.
We left the trunks there and will cut them up some time in summer when we can get vehicle access back. It’s too muddy now.
On the other hand we already planted some new spruces and European firs last years. They will eventually grow into a new shelter belt and some into some very nice Christmas trees.
