Done… busy weekend making the most of the weather… weeding, fertilizing and oversowing paddock yesterday, pouring concrete in the animal shelter today. For years the shelter has been wet – this will hopefully make it drier and easy clean!
After the rainy weekend we got busy outside again. Saturday we weeded the paddock and sowed new grass plus added fertiliser. Sunday we got the concrete mixer out and got builders mix and cement from Waimauku Landscape supplies to pour concrete into the animal shelter.
Since we only have a horse float that I probably would not be able to get back up the hill (I have never tried but don’t want to), I just loaded Mary’s boot up with the firewood. Note: Mary is our 4×4, everything with motor or soul has a name at our place. Who needs a trailer?
The winter storms and the wet weather was not too good for some of our already damaged pine tress along the middle paddock fence line. So we untied the fence wires and chopped the most damaged and dangerous trees down. All trees fell exactly between the fence posts and we simply tied the wires back
I love the seasons and their distinctive differences. Autumn with its colours and now winter with their crisp, cold and blue mornings. I went down the valley this morning to feed the cows and alpacas. We feed they hay to warm them up and they love it. Took some pictures on they way. The alpacas greeted me with frost on their backs. What a lovely cold morning.
This is a picture I have just taken from the deck just after a big downpour. Still raining but what a scenery. Shows that the landscape is beautiful even in bad weather, but then, what is bad…
