If not doing office work, we fix fences, move animals around, collect, cut and chop firewood, dig trenches, build goat houses ;-) and fix all sorts of things that break over time.
It’s that time of the year again where the cats and dogs in the neighbourhood start bringing in little chicks and ducklings.
While a few of last year’s rescue ducks have returned sporadically throughout the year, they now seem to be returning in larger numbers and bringing their boy friends along.
The vet found Daffy in his grandpa feeder for his chickens and Norbert got dropped of at the local vets. We thought we would take them home so they can be friends for our other rescue ducks.
The storm that hit us last Tuesday evening with wind speeds of more than 200km/h (Manukau Heads) left us without power and internet and only limited cell phone coverage. Power was restored yesterday afternoon, 3 days later.
After we cut all the dead privets off along the boundary fence last Monday, we thought that we could as well burn it as it was dry and there was hardly any wind on that day. The kids concluded that we could then have a bonfire, have marshmallows and invite some friends. Said and done
We could not have asked for a better and more beautiful night for our May bonfire. We invited some friends for Walpurgis night, the last night in April.
