And who else loves pizza

As summer really turned into summer, we decided that it was time for another paddock pick-nick. So we grabbed the pizza, the wine and the kids and went down to the pond in the valley.

Not long until we had nosy visitors that were very interested in the pizza. Spotty, our cow, manged to get a few bits of the gluten free crust – that had no toppings on, so Tatjana was sharing it without too much convincing. And Spotty loved it and kept coming back for more and then followed Tatjana around the paddock everywhere. And the whole dinner was finished off with a nice sunset.

Time of the year again: Ducks, ducks, ducks

It’s that time of the year again where the cats and dogs in the neighbourhood start bringing in little chicks and ducklings.

While a few of last year’s rescue ducks have returned sporadically throughout the year, they now seem to be returning in larger numbers and bringing their boy friends along.

The animals, the rain and the fire

Who likes the weather when it’s raining and storming outside? No one – well, maybe the odd people that are happy that their grass is growing, like us humans inside. Oh, and the ducks! The ducks love it.

Time to head out before the bad weather

Time to head into the valley and do some paddock maintenance. Checking fences and gates, continued to dig a drainage trench, checked up on the alpacas and moos, mowed some swamp grass and sprayed some other areas of swap grass. Chopped some firewood, loaded up the trainer and brought it back up to the house to keep us warm over the next couple of days.

A break from the rainy weather

First day in a long time without rainy weather, so we went down into the valley for fixing things, moving things and play things.

A video a friend made in summer two years ago. The horse shelter was still under construction at that time. The flightover shows our alpacas in the lower paddock and gives an impression of our lovely hillside spot.
